President Petersen Joins Lawmakers, Arizona Vacation Rental Hosts
at State Capitol to Celebrate Tourism, Economic Freedom
PHOENIX, ARIZONA— Senate President Warren Petersen and other state lawmakers are joining more than 100 Arizona short-term vacation rental hosts at the Capitol this Thursday at 12 p.m. to celebrate the industry’s significant contributions to tourism and the economy.
"Short-term rentals create economic opportunities for Arizona hosts and their families while boosting tourism and supporting tens of thousands of good jobs across our state. This is a tremendous success story that proves we can honor private-property rights while protecting neighborhoods and communities," said President Petersen. "I’m proud to stand with these Arizonans who embody the entrepreneurial spirit that makes Arizona strong."
Short Term Rental Day at the Arizona Capitol is sponsored by Arizonans for Responsible Tourism (AZRT), a grassroots advocacy group representing short-term rental hosts, operators, and travel industry partners across the state. AZRT members will be formally recognized by legislators in both the Arizona House and Senate.
"This is Arizona’s prime tourism season, and short-term rental hosts across our state are working hard and welcoming guests with a unique experience they can’t get anywhere else," said AZRT President Jonathan Wicks. "We are responsible residents who love our work and the vital role short-term rentals play in supporting Arizona’s robust tourism economy, and we thank lawmakers for their continued support."
Each year, short-term rentals support over 75,000 jobs and produce more than $500 million in tax revenue for state and local governments, according to a 2022 economic-impact study.
