Senator Vince Leach Denounces Biden Business Vaccine Mandate

(Phoenix, State Capitol) --- Senator Vince Leach responds to the growing private sector pressure to comply with President Biden's vaccine mandate for businesses with 100 or more employees:

“The COVID-19 vaccine is strictly a personal choice and throughout the pandemic Arizona's economy has continued to recover and flourish without a mandate. Our country has always honored personal medical decision making and resisted federal government regulatory overreach. The Biden administration's vaccine mandate for private enterprises sets a frightening precedent that could be used to justify any manner of regulation on business and our citizens. The Arizona businesses I've spoken to were not consulted prior to this sweeping federal action. The state's economy has grown because we have resisted regulation that has suppressed economies in other states. The federal government should not be imposing this style of heavy-handed red tape on Arizona from Washington.

We are now seeing these extreme federal measures placing pressure on Arizona university systems. Threatening hundreds of millions of federal grant dollars, the Biden administration's power grab improperly coerces our universities to override the policies of this state and mandate the vaccine on faculty and employees. The goal post set today will continue to be moved in a direction away from personal liberties. This is very disconcerting; I support all challenges to overturn these unacceptable federal mandates."
