AZ Senate Republican Leadership Team Releases Statement Condemning This Weekend's Horrific Acts of Violence
PHOENIX, ARIZONA— Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families involved in two horrific mass shootings at both a grocery store in Buffalo, New York and a church in Laguna Woods, California. These acts of domestic terrorism are both devastating and infuriating. This kind of violence targeting such innocent people should never happen.
Law enforcement has narrowed down racism as a motive for the shooting in New York. We condemn any and all hate speech that has served as inspiration for these kinds of heinous crimes. Words have consequences, and while we believe in our first amendment rights of free speech, we denounce any and all extremist rhetoric that has fueled these horrendous acts. We, as Arizona Senate Republicans, are calling upon all to stand up and stand together against these verbal abuses that are tearing apart our country and driving these hate crimes. We turn to God for guidance and light during this dark time and pray for all to have courage to join us in speaking out against white nationalism, racism and anti-Semitism.
